Faster Custodian Data Processing and Greater Visibility

We are developing new infrastructure designed to give advisors greater confidence in the portfolio information and reports they rely on.
Faster and more consistent checks will help identify anomalies in data received from custodians and other external providers, such as missing files or unexpected values, at an earlier stage. This will allow potential issues to be investigated, communicated, and addressed more quickly.
Greater visibility throughout data processing will add another layer of assurance around the information used for portfolio calculations, returns, and reporting.
New controls will also provide a clearer and more traceable process for reviewing data exceptions. Changes to accepted data rules will require independent review before being applied.
Together, these updates will support earlier detection and remediation of potential data issues, helping advisors provide more dependable portfolio information and reporting to their clients.
More Flexible Reporting

Our new reporting environment will provide greater flexibility in how reports are created, tested, and managed.
It will bring together flexible input forms, templates, visual styling, and reusable components. This will make it easier to create and maintain reports tailored to different requirements and use cases.
Improved version management will allow report changes to be tested and reviewed before a new version becomes the default. Each version will retain its underlying logic, template, and associated assets, helping reduce the risk of unintended changes and ensuring updates are introduced in a controlled way.
The new setup will also support more consistent and reliable report generation when larger volumes of reports are processed.
Family Trees for a Consolidated View of Wealth

A complete understanding of a client’s wealth often extends beyond one individual.
We are developing a new Family Tree feature that will allow advisors to map relationships between family members, companies, foundations, and other legal entities. Ownership information across connected portfolios and entities can then be brought together into one consolidated view.
This will help advisors understand where assets are held, how ownership is distributed, and whether the same exposure appears across several portfolios. For example, an individual and a family-owned company may both hold the same security, creating a combined exposure that may not be visible when each portfolio is viewed separately.
Family Trees can also support succession and inheritance planning by showing how wealth is distributed across personal holdings, shared companies, foundations, and other structures.
Existing access controls will continue to apply. Users will only see the clients, portfolios, and information they are authorized to access, including in consolidated reports.

Alternative investments account for 42% of family office portfolios globally. As portfolios increasingly span private equity, direct investments, real estate, and other alternative assets, often held across multiple banks and ownership structures, gaining a consolidated view becomes more complex.
We have partnered with Qapnova to combine our investment management capabilities and operational infrastructure with Qapnova’s strength in consolidating and verifying non-listed and entity-held wealth. Qapnova links each figure to its source document, as-of date, and associated entity.
Together, we will provide a complete and verified view of wealth across public markets, private investments, and complex ownership structures.
Building a Custodian from Scratch: The Story Behind Knox and AFS Custody Services
It took four years to build Knox into a fully licensed custodian serving independent wealth and asset managers in the Netherlands.
Building the technology was only one part of the challenge. The team also had to put the legal, compliance, and operational foundations in place for an entirely new custody business.
In the latest episode of Wealth Insider, Pieter Aartsen, Managing Director of AFS Execution Services, shares what that journey involved, from gaining regulatory approval and developing a new custody platform to establishing trust in the market.
He also discusses the importance of asset segregation, specialist outsourcing partners, and building a small team with deep operational, legal, and compliance expertise.
